eDAQ supplies several products for ion chromatography (IC) capillary electrophoresis (CE), and microfluidic channel electrophoresis using Capacitively Coupled Contactless Conductivity Detection
C4D Amp
The C4D Amp is a high sensitivity capacitively-coupled contactless conductivity detector (C4D) for capilliary electrophoresis (CE) and ion chromatography (IC) systems, using PowerChrom system, or e-corder data acquistion systems. It is supplied with a suitable headstage, usually the ET120 C4D Head (for CE or IC), or optionally the ET121 C4D Microfluidic Platform for use with microfluidic channel chips. Excitation frequency and amplitude can be optimised by the user for maximum signal sensitivity. Suitable for use with e-corder or PowerChrom systems for data collection.
C4D Detector
This unit is a high sensitivity capacitively-coupled contactless conductivity detector (C4D) for capilliary electrophoresis (CE) and ion chromatography (IC) systems. It is supplied with a suitable headstage, usually ET120 C4D Head (CE or IC), or optionally ET121 C4D Microfluidic Platform for use with microfluidic channel chips.
Excitation frequency and amplitude can be optimised by the user for maximum signal sensitivity. Both digital (RS232) and analog signals (±3 V max) are provided for use use with many types of data acquisition systems.
C4D Headstage for Capillary Electrophoresis
The ET120 C4D Headstage is designed for capillary electrophoresis (CE) or ion chromatography (IC). It must be connected to either the C4D Amp or C4D Detector.
The C4D Head contains a pair of cylindrical electrodes which act as the transmitter and receiver for an AC waveform signal provided by the C4D Amp or C4D Detector. The capillary tubing passes through the C4D headstage and the pair of electrodes.

C4D Microfluidic Platform
This platform is designed for contactless conductivity detection on a microfluidic chip (lab-on-a-chip). It must be connected to either the C4D Amp or C4D Detector.
The platform has a pair of flat electrodes which act as the transmitter and receiver for the AC waveform signal provided by the C4D Amp or C4D Detector. The microfluidic channel is positioned so as to pass across the pair of electrodes. The base of the microfluidic chip should be less than 200 µm thick, so that the electrodes are as close to the sample channel as possible.
EChem uses the e-corder recording systems as the digital waveform generator, and data acquisition system. Thus even non-scanning potentiostats can be upgraded to the full range of EChem techniques.
EChem version 2 has improved resolution (16 bit sampling, with 32 bit floating point averaging), and faster scan rates (to about 500 V/s) than earlier versions.
C4D System Bundle
The ER283 C4D System Bundle includes the ER280 PowerChrom system and EA120 C4D Amp.
This system comes complete with C4D Amp, software, data recording unit and a choice of the headstage for capillary electrophoresis or the platform for microchip electrophoresis.
